Kiama To Host Forum On The Future Of NSW Regional Infrastructure

Industry professionals from across the State will meet at the Southern Region Industry Forum at the Kiama Pavilion today to discuss infrastructure priorities in our region.

The industry forum will include representatives from local and state governments to discuss ideas on infrastructure upgrades in regional NSW.

Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said that the Regional Industry Forum is a great opportunity to reflect on the exceptional work, and plan for future investment in regional infrastructure.

“The NSW Government is investing a record $73.2 billion in infrastructure over the next four years, in roads, schools, hospitals and public transport,” Mrs Pavey said.

“Our critical investment in infrastructure is making a world of difference for people on the ground, and this will be felt for generations to come.

“This year we are investing $8.5 billion to continue building and improving our road, maritime and freight infrastructure, of which $4.8 billion will go towards regional NSW.”

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said the forum has a clear focus on making sure this Government is providing the right regional investments and making sure that no matter what region, people can work, live and study anywhere in NSW.

“I was extremely pleased to have the Premier of NSW Gladys Berejiklian down last week to officially open the $580 million Berry and Foxground Bypass.

“I am also pleased that funding is secured for the Albion Park Rail Bypass to commence in 2019 and construction money has just been secured in the 2017-18 State Budget for the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade of our Princes Highway,” he said.

“We are continuing to fix the blackspots, seal our country roads and work with local councils through programs such as the Fixing Country Roads to deliver safety initiatives in regional areas.

“These forums help open the lines of communication with the local communities that we have been elected to represent,” Mr Ward said.
